2010 Mission Report
Dallas Area Food Bank
· Over 2300 pounds of food donations, including 100
pounds of fresh produce from our garden.
· $4,274.00 donated
· Ten regular volunteers who gave approximately
1,410 volunteer hours.
To put that in perspective, that’s roughly equivalent to a 20
hour/week year-round employee.
Backpacks for LaCreole
Middle School
· 37 backpacks roughly valued at $55 each, totaling
$2,035
· $200 donated for gym clothes
United Methodist
Volunteers in Mission
· $500 donation for building materials
· 10 volunteers, 3 days of work, roughly 200
volunteer hours.
Hosted a presentation by Ms
Katherine Parker, missionary in service in Cambodia.
Health Kits for Haiti
· 105 kits were assembled with an estimated value
of $1,260
· $230 was donated for handling and shipping
Holiday Adopt-a-Family
· 5 Families with 20 children and 9 adults
· Close to $1,000 spent
Supporting and Assisting
Foster Families
· 3 Foster Parents Nights Out served 30 families
with 75 children
· 42 volunteers gave 156 hours at FPNO
· Hosted Foster Parents Appreciation Dinner
honoring 42 foster parents and entertaining 50 kids.
· Hosted Foster Children’s Christmas Party
Heifer Project -
Alternative Giving Program
· $1,920 given with 20 families participating.
· “Purchases” included 5 goats, 1 sheep, 8 flocks
of chicks, ducks or geese, 7 trios of rabbits,
7 honeybee colonies, shares of a buffalo, tree seedlings, and
additional cash to be used where needed.
Youth Group “No More
Malaria” fund raiser
· 10 kids and 3 adults slept out under nets to
raise awareness.
· $350 from Breakfast fundraiser
representing 36 mosquito nets donated to “Nothing But Nets.”
Vacation Bible School and
Day Camp with Trinity Lutheran Church
· 70 local kids participated and more than 75
volunteers were involved.
Other Mission Giving
· $2,080 to Liberian Scholarships through the
Advance
· $2,095 to United Methodist Committee on Relief
· $645 in Camperships to help send kids to camp
· $677.21 donated to “Change Hunger Fast” project
of 2010 Annual Conference.
Special Sundays
· $56 to Human Relations Sunday
· $72 to Native American Sunday
· $347 to One Great Hour of Sharing
· $92 to Peace with Justice Sunday
· $88 to World Communion Sunday
James 2 Kitchen
· Approximately 12,660 meals served in 2010,
currently averaging 250 meals each week.
· 3 regular volunteers from Dallas UMC gave
approximately 310 hours in 2010
Miscellaneous Building Use
· Girl Scouts meet on Monday afternoons during the
school year.
· Two 12-step groups meet in the church on a weekly
basis.
· Community art group meets every Wednesday.
